Woman's Health Options was formerly the Edmonton Morgentaler Clinic.  Although we have a new name we operate from the same values and principles on which Henry Morgentaler founded the original clinic.  To learn more about Henry Morgentaler you can go to his website:  www.morgentaler.ca.

Woman’s Health Options is committed to providing safe and compassionate abortion care in a supportive and sympathetic environment. The clinic is a state of the art medical facility that employs the newest medical techniques and knowledge. The staff is understanding and compassionate and fully supports reproductive choice and freedom. The clinic provides access to an essential medical service that historically was not available, accessible or safe. The dedication of the doctors and staff ensures that an abortion may be obtained on request without obstacles or the need for apologies.

The right to reproductive freedom is fundamental and imperative. Reproductive choice ensures that women have the means for self determination and planned parenthood; these rights ensure that women are  full, equal citizens in control of their bodies and their futures.

We must preserve this right and vigilantly guard against its erosion. The historic Morgentaler decision of January 28, 1988 by the Supreme Court of Canada decriminalized abortion and made reproductive choice a hard won reality. However, some provinces will not provide or fund abortion services and the anti choice movement continues to work to take this fundumental right away from women. We must work together to ensure that every mother is a willing mother, and every child a wanted child as stated by Henry Morgentaler.

Providing an atmosphere filled with understanding, respect and dignity; giving women options for their reproductive health, including contraception and abortions, thereby allowing women the freedom to choose a quality of life filled with health, harmomy, and strength.

The goal of Woman’s Health Options is not only to help women requesting these services but to ensure that women be given the choice and opportunity to have children who are wanted, at a time when they can offer love and proper nurturing.
